Conscious of its responsibility as a company that works in society not only as an economical agent, but also as a promoter of social development, Sarpa chose not to mechanize its harvest and some stages of the produced coffee, with the objective to involve and give benefits to a greater number of people.
The manual coffee harvest, not only employs more, but also gives opportunity to improve the income of the local community by offering more jobs. It also allows the company to have a better contact with the community and to have a better view of how to grow its perception of other forms of social and economical improvement of the region where it is located.
SARPA intends to spread out this initiative among a great number of coffee producers in the Chapada Diamantina and other regions, with the objective of multiplying the good effects in the society.
